Faithgirlz Promises For You Coloring Devotional 60 Days Discovering God’s Hope And Love - Review by Running With Spears #coloringdevotional #tweendevotional #faithgirlz

My almost  ten year old, Evergreen, loves the more grown-up coloring books that are all the rage lately, so I figured this would probably be a big hit for her. What I didn’t expect was how high-quality this coloring devotional is. It’s actually a lovely hard cover book, which was a first for us with coloring books of any sort. The pages are also actually  thick, too. I’ve seen numerous coloring books claim to have thick pages, but everything else we’ve tried didn’t hold true to that claim and still bleeds terribly. I imagine some dark pens or markers might still bleed a bit, but Evergreen says she hasn’t had any issues so far!

Each of the sixty devotionals features a short passage from the Bible and a brief devotional, including a writing prompt along with a variety of lovely, whimsical line drawings to color in while reflecting on the day’s thought. As soon as Evergreen saw the book she was begging me to run off to her room with it and get started.

I love that this coloring book encourages a relaxing, positive experience with soaking up God’s word, and Evergreen loves how fun the pages are to color. We both agree that this is a perfect gift for tween girls! 🙂

Newborn Photography

I LOVE doing photography sessions! Unfortunately I don’t really have time these days, but back when I was doing them a lot, newborn sessions were my favorites! Getting to cuddle sweet babies and pose them for adorable pics is just the best, so I was over-the-moon when my sister let me take pictures of her precious baby boy when he was just about a week old! 🙂

Here are a few of my favorite images from the session:

The Legend Of The Sand Dollar – Easter Book Review

The Legend Of The Sand Dollar - An Inspirational Story of Hope for Easter | Review of free copy by Running With Spears #easterbook #sanddollar #kidsbook #easter #zonderkidzThis beautiful book has the most enchanting illustrations! My girls love looking at them over and over!

The story itself felt a little cheesy, and a bit confusing. There was some drama with the girl missing her parents and it felt a bit like a chapter taken out of a larger story where we actually knew where the parents were and why the girl was crying to be away from them for a couple days.

Some of the descriptions of what different elements of the sand dollar were supposed to represent were a bit befuddling as well, but they made me and my daughter want to look up more information about sand dollars together, which we enjoyed doing.

As a story to read once and then just look at the gorgeous pictures over and over, this book was a hit. 🙂

I love giving books in Easter baskets, and this one is a lovely choice. Once Upon A Time – Bible for Kids | Review

Hello lovelies! A few weeks ago Zonderkidz sent me a free copy of the NIrV Once Upon a Time Holy Bible to review.

NIrV Once Upon A Time Holy Bible, Hardcover - first Bible for Disney lovers | Review of free copy - Running With Spears #girlsbible #easter #illustratedbible

NIrV Once Upon A Time Holy Bible, Hardcover - first Bible for Disney lovers | Review of free copy - Running With Spears #girlsbible #easter #illustratedbible This lovely children’s Bible is a full text Bible featuring beautifully illustrated inserts with Bible stories including the story of Ruth, Esther, and of course Jesus’ birth and resurrection. This gorgeous hardcover edition features glittery details on the cover illustration that makes it super appealing to my three and seven year old girls!

I wasn’t familiar with the New International Reader’s Version, and it’s not really my favorite ever, but it’s definitely more kid-friendly than many versions, so that’s a plus. The illustrated stories are fairly short and to the point, which is good for a kid with a short attention span, but not necessarily always very deep or specifically engaging for kids. The highlight of them is really the lovely illustrations that my girls love to look at on their own.

The sort of catch phrase for the Bible is “The Bible is not a fairy tale. Every great story happened once upon a time.”  It’s a neat way to engage kids who love princess stories, Disney movies, etc. with learning true stories from the Bible. 🙂

I love giving books in Easter baskets, and this is a sweet one to give little girls. If you’re interested in more Easter book ideas, check out my reviews of Ready, Set, Find Easter and The Berenstain Bears Easter Fun Sticker And Activity Book. And keep watching for another Easter book review soon.

Mom Hack Monday — Easter Egg Hunts

Hey friends!

I wanted to share a quick hack for family Easter Egg hunts with multiple kids! Once our second sweetie got old enough to hunt eggs, we wanted to find a way to make sure each kiddo grabbed the same number of eggs from the get-go rather than having to redistribute afterward. We tried putting each girl’s initial on the eggs, but the problem there was that you have to pick up the egg and look at it, and if it’s not yours, put it back, which isn’t really much fun.

Genius! Color-code your Easter eggs - details at Running With Spears! #easter #egghunt #momhacks #parenthacks

Then we got smart and chose one color for each girl! Now, not only is it simple for each girl to know which eggs she can grab, but it’s easy for us to also hide each color egg in varying degrees of difficulty based on who’s going to be looking for it!

Do you have any Easter related hacks? I’d love to hear them! 😀
